Weekend project & bargains...

This weekend I created this little mini album using some floral pictures I had taken, quotes I had collected, 3.5x3.5 coasters I had collected from Chili's, PSE and my bind -it-all. Benita (on the 2P's thread) asked today what bargains we've found recently. I'm not real consistent about posting my fun purchases so here are a couple recent ones.

This is a white balance setting disk. It's put over the lens and then the custom white balance setting is used to set the WB on your camera. I got it on ebay for $5. It's not as technical as an Expo disc but it's not as expensive either! It seems to work decent.
These are some clear alpha stamps I found at Anchor Paper (local store) for 99c each.
I have a rather basic shopping philosophy. I don't buy anything at regular price unless I absolutely have to or the regular price is good. Like $5 or 99c! So many of the basic things we pay for are expensive enough (gas, electricity, natural gas, diapers) that we just can't afford to pay more than we have to. Nikki and I frequently have bargain shopping conversations. We both love to find a good deal and use coupons whenever we can.

And speaking of expensive things, we are on our last box of diapers. I got a book from the library called Diaper Free Before Three by Dr. Jill Lekovic. It's about healthy toilet training. She advocates an earlier approach (earlier than we've started) and basically she says by the time they are Owen's age they should be out of diapers and in cotton underpants. So we are beginning a potty routine and after this box of diapers is gone we aren't buying anymore. I've ordered some waterproof outer pants to put over the cotton underwear. But we're going to give this a go and see how it goes! Hopefully it will work and we really won't need to buy more diapers! I told all of this to Morgan whose initial response was "Do you remember the Baby Whisperer?", which was this horrible book I have about all kinds of child rearing things, but I didn't feel this was the same. First, Dr. Lekovic is a pediatrician, with children and lots of research under her belt. So I'm going to give it a go and see how it goes!

omgosh, that minibook is absolutely ADORABLE.

I don't envy you with the potty training. UGH. I am so glad to be over that stage. But I have to admit, I don't find the toddler or tween or teen years any easier!

You know in some african countries they basically start potty training them from birth.. But I guess it's different when you don't have the means to buy diapers and stuff.. but still..

What a cute album. I bought those stamps too. I ended up getting 2 sets of each, so I could do whole words.

I love your mini Heather! Those pics of the flowers are gorgeous and it looks so professional. I too share the same philosophy about bargains. I never like to buy anything full price. I hope the book that you got about pottytraining will help you with your journey. Let me know how it goes, I'll be cheering you on!
