Growing...

It is amazing to me how fast children grow and change. I would notice this with my students from one year to the next. And now the first class of third graders I had are juniors in high school. But I notice it even more with Owen. It started the first time I had to put away clothes that didn't fit anymore. I cried over those teeny tiny little sleepers. And yesterday I felt a little twinge when I put on his new bigger shoes.

These are his first pair of hard sole shoes. I had looked and looked for shoes when he was first learning to walk but couldn't find anything that was easy to get on his chubby little feet. Then I found these Vans at Kohl's. They slipped right on and fit perfectly.

A month or so ago I thought they might be getting a bit tight and started looking for a bigger size but after several Kohl's stores and an online search I was unsuccessful in finding another pair of Vans. I finally settled on a pair of Stride Rites from Marshall's but the just didn't fit quite right so they sat in the box. I found a black pair of Vans at Famous Footwear but really just wanted another pair of the first ones. Finally, after a couple phone calls by a nice girl at Kohl's we found a pair! I had to drive out to Coon Rapids but it was worth it for the new Vans!

So yesterday we put on the new, bigger pair!
I think I need to write an e-mail to the Vans people to let them know they have to keep making these shoes. (Kohl's told me they were discontinued) They just fit Owen so well. I think perhaps his little toes were cramped in there because when we went for a walk last night he was running like crazy down the side walk. Another sign of being a big boy!

He just looks like a big boy sometimes too. He still has his cute little chubby cheeks but he wears jeans and polo shirts and rides the daddy horse without hands! If he'd stay still longer I'd take more pictures.

Here's some other cuteness I wanted to share with you. For my Easter basket this year my mom gave me this can. It has a little metal and wood handle on it too. I love green and polka dots and stripes together. So cute! And it was filled with chocolate. Owen opened it for me and my sister and I told him it was "mommy's" so he kept saying "mommy" "mommy" and pointing to it. He knew there was chocolate in it too!

Today is supposed to be a warmer day so I'm hoping to get outside for a walk and perhaps take a trip to Archiver's to see if they have some of the new Basic Grey stamps. I'm specifically looking for these and these and maybe these.

Oh, and Lynn asked me yesterday what size circle I cut out with the cricut for the paper globe. I believe it was a 3 1/2" circle. There are two different sizes on the pattern and I just measured the circle and set the real dial size on the cricut for the measurement I got.

So, I should go buy the size 9 ones that they had at Kohl's by me? SO that way he can have the same shoes his whole life??? Let me know and I'll buy them for you! :P

the shoes are precious. don't you hate when you find something so perfect and know you may never find it again? :) Your sweet boy is adorable!!

I would suggest that you buy a couple more pairs in bigger sizes before they become harder to find. That's what I do for myself, if I find sandals that fit nice for the summer I'll buy two just in case.

Love the shoe pictures, very nostaligic.

You might want to buy a pair in every size! I was a shoe sales person back in the day, and I've seen moms do that many time. It saves you some time and tears :) Very cute!

Baby shoes! I love these photos. BTW. I checked out your "Deck of ME" cards...what a cool idea. I might have to adapt this for one of my art therapy groups...or for myself!
